“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” (Isaiah 43:1-2)
Our battles are individual and personal, for every one of us. Our battles are our own, and they look different from everyone else’s battles. True, we might be dealing with same issues as some others are but our past, our previous experiences and who we are, affect what our battles look like to us. Because others’ stories are so different from ours, it can be difficult to find the hope, to think that the circumstances would change when it comes to our lives. But this is where I see the beautiful grace of God. Darkness is dark for all of us. And in our battles, in our darkness we find the same God who doesn’t change. I may not be able to relate to the battle you are fighting through but I can say this:
My darkness has been dark and scary, too. I have been afraid — I still am, at times. But in my brokenness and pain, in the trials and the deep valleys, I have found God in there with me. In my deepest despair and those days when it seems like all hope has been lost, I have found God and peace in Him. He will be there for you, too. You will find Him in the midst of your battle; you only need to call, you only need to turn your eyes to Him. He is there, the Light and the Hope you need.
“Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’” (Isaiah 58:9)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. So no matter how dark it seems around you, no matter how hopeless you might feel — God is with you. He is, after all, Emmanuel – God With Us.
God with us.
